Earrings Everday We're all Ears: Tidepools

I could NOT pass up the chance to make some tide pool inspired earrings this month!

When I saw the pictures they posted over at Earrings Everyday it just made my heart jump a little bit.

I have bowls of things from the sea all over my house.  My heart is always drawn to the ocean and its beautiful creatures and shells, corals and bones......

I broke out my polymer clay components and grabbed some of my new earring spikes (I could not stop thinking that they look like something straight from the sea)

I also grabbed some older ones- using ocean textures and themes in my work is nothing new.  made earrings, grabbed some ocean props and took some pictures this morning (nothing like waiting till the last minute, right?)

these are bone and polymer clay

these are coral and polymer clay

these are coral, seed beads and polymer clay

chain and polymer clay urchin earrings

and Last but not least, my favorites!  Pod earrings with pearls and polymer clay!

That was fun!  Now I am off to see what other creations folks made using the Tide Pool theme.  If you want to hop along, just go here.

If you like the new earring sets, check my shop next week.  More will be added soon!!!!

It's a lovely raku like polymer pendant, with a crackle finish.  If you are a jewelry lover and not a designer, I will add a bail and a ball chain with it.

I will not be reserving items for the duration of the sale. I just feel its more fair that way.

Holiday Sale with lots of fun Twists

First, I would like to encourage everyone to try to shop local and / or small business this year.  Let's really help the economy, by supporting companies that are completely made and run in the USA.  Being an artisan, I know first hand, the hours, the love, and the talent that goes into creating product AND running your own business.  My husband and I both have our own business's. We pay taxes, we do all the work ourselves. It's a labor of love, and it feels good.  Though we have no sick pay, no un-employment, and no benefits others then being our own boss's, I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I know most business owners and artist feel the same way.  That is why I am buying handmade this holiday.  I know the love and passion that goes into each product.  I know it was made with their own hands.  I know my money will go to groceries, heat bills, piano classes, ect....right back into our economy.  And I also know how wonderful it is to be able to pay the bills by doing something you love.

Ok- onto the sale!!!

I am having a HUGE Holiday Sale beginning late Thursday night through the end of the day Cyber Monday, in both my online shops.

I have a ton of items to list over the next two days, so stay tuned.

Bead Table Wednesday

Well, my bead table is full.  Getting ready for this sea glass festival has taken over my studio AND my kitchen.  Here is the kitchen, where I am drilling sea glass and have the earring making taking place.  (my studio is the metal smithing area right now)

Here is a close up of that tray thats waiting to be drilled.  I have some charm necklaces laid out.

Here are the earrings I made last night.  I already had a bunch glued into these bail caps from last year, so I just had to hang them on earwires (they are the one's hanging on the front), but alas, once these sell out I think this style is of the past. I really prefer making the one of a kind earrings.

Here are some of the one of a kind earrings I made with all my bronze clay bits and pieces I showed you a couple weeks ago.

These (below) were some of my favorites

The last pic above is a new style I made with 12g wire ILO the sheet copper I have been using for boho hoops.  I really like them.

So there you have it.  My bead table #2.  Poor family, no place to eat.  I have officially taken over the house.  Well, gotta get drilling.  I need to drill this morning, so when my battery dies, it can re-charge all day and I can drill more tonight.

Check out what other people have on their bead table here.
What's on your bead table?

Artisan Clay Design Team

I can't believe its been a year (or almost?) since Kristie decided to do a design team.  Its been so much fun to work with her components each month. She is a talented artist, passionate about her designs and quality, and I feel blessed to have been a part of this ride.  I am not sure if she is going to continue the design team into a new year or not, but it has been very fun.  Thanks Kristie!

This month I got a set of her charms that I had favorited in her etsy shop long ago.  They are really not colors I work with, but they are beautiful, and I can't help but drool each time I see them. I am so happy she chose them for me. I decided to just go with earrings, because these should be the star of the show, the colors are amazing.

I used recycled sari silk to add a pop of that yellow that makes those blues stand out.
I love them.  I almost want to keep them just for inspiration.....hanging by my desk.
