Meet My Bead Soup Partner

This time around I got paired up with Stephanie Haussler.

If you are unfamiliar, the Bead Soup Blog Party is where you get paired with another artist, and you swap beads, and create something with them.  Its a great chance to meet new artists, and to push yourself creatively, but using beads that you may not have normally picked to work with.

Stephanie is part of Pixybug Designs, along with her husband Chris, who happens to make lampwork beads!  (lucky gal!)

Stephanie and I had the pleasure of exchanging emails about how we got started, and what our crazy lives entail.  I can tell we would have a great time if we ever got together to hang out.  We both share that passion for what we do!!!

She does many kinds of jewelry, and like many of us, got into selling her wares to support her bead addiction.
The Bead Soup Blog party may be better off being called the Bead Addicts attempt at getting more beads.....lol!  I speak for myself here!!!

Bead Fest Loot

Bead Fest Philly was amazing.  I will be doing a few separate posts about it because there was just so much to process.  The show was amazing, the friends were great, the people I met were great, the beads....................oooohhhhhhh the beads.

So, without further ado, here is the loot I came home with.  Sunday was swap day I and I swapped for a lot of art beads.

Here is a good pic (from my friend Diana P) of me in my booth.  I didn't get one for myself.

OK, for the loot.  First the Art beads.

Below is my Art Bead Loot- broken up by artist.

And now for the gemstones.  Most came from Holy and Pure Gems...my favorite vendor for gemstones.  I am being lazy, and doing group pics.  I am still so tired its crazy.

I also got a ton of Wooley Wire- which did not get photo'd, so that will be in another post !!!!

It was fun, and a blur, and I am really tired.  I got to meet lots of you guys and I will blog about all that later.  It meant a lot to me to meet so many people I only know online.

My Bead Soup Partner is.......

Gaia Copia aka Emily Greer

Emily and I quickly exchanged emails and became fast friends.  I must say, she is a beautiful person, and we have a lot in common.  If you haven't seen her jewely, well, you are missing out.  You can check it out here www.gaiacopia.com and follow her here on facebook as well.  Beautiful person, beautiful jewelry.....once again, I am so happy I got to meet someone new.  I can be kind of a home-body and don't get out much, so meeting people online is such a wonderful thing for me.

Here is one of her mixed media cuffs- in polymer and sheet metal.

*swoon*

Even the back is beautifully done...I admire anyone who pays such attention to detail

So we really got on the ball and sent our soups right away.  I got mine yesterday!  Here are some pics.

I love that bright green focal she sent!!!  And she sent sari silk too- in a hippie rainbow!  I don't often work in bright colors, but I doooo love them.  So I am excited to have a bright focal for a challenge.  I need that push sometimes to add more color to my work.

She sent lots of earthy beads, nuts, stones, wood, and some hand rolled paper beads I just love, they have great texture and a nice boho feel to them.

She also sent a wood skull she embellished and some polymer spikes and a beautiful shell that she made.  I think I will be making more then one piece with this soup!!!  I already see two full pieces in my head.

This is my lovely handmade clasp that she sent me!

and she even sent me some molds that she made- since she does polymer and bronze clay too!  Soo sweet.

So, thanks to Lori Anderson of Pretty Things for once again taking on this monumental task of the Bead Soup Blog Party.

I can't wait to dig in and create!

Art Bead Earring Swap

Thanks so much to Diana Ptaszynski of Suburban Girl Studio LLC for organizing this great swap!  I loved the idea of just swapping jewerly- especially with art beads.  I mean, even if we all make our own, you know we drool over everyone elses designs too!

I think earrings are both fun and challenging.  I am in a place in my jewelry making where I want all my work to be cohesive, and honestly represent my style.  When you make earrings, you don't have much room to make a statement.  They are an artform all their own!!!!!  So it can be challenging, but its always fun to make mini- art too!  (if you have seen how chunky and large my necklaces are, you will see why I call earrings mini-art!)

I got paired up with Lisa Petrillo of Lucid Moon Studio!  I was really excited, since I have "met" her through a couple of other hops.  I love her work, she really has an eye for design.  Her blog is full of life, and I just know she would be so much fun to hang out with in person.  Lisa is in the process of moving this week, I don't know how she does it all!!!!

Here is the amazing package I got from her.
We emailed each other prior to creating our earrings for each other, and I told her that I don't really wear earrings, but was excited to get a pair as a gift for my mom.  My mom is a BIG fan of earrings, and certainly not loyal to mine!  LOL!  I thought she'd like a pair from a new artist for a change.  The box is perfect and ready to gift!  I just love getting a nicely decorated package!

Then I opened it to find these adorable and versitile earrings!  Love them, and so will my mom.
But thats not all, she also included these, in case I wanted to make a matching pendant.
Isn't that so thoughtful????

So, I am looking at these beads, going, "these look so familiar".  So I emailed Lisa and it turns out they are made by Love My Art Jewelry's own LeAnn of Summer Studios!!!  Small world!!

If you want to check out what everyone else got, here are the links!  There are some great artists in this bunch.  I can't wait to have an excuse to browes their blogs all morning!!!

Happy Hopping!
