Applehead Open Studio Weekend

Well, Applehead was a great time!  I mean, I got to hang out all weekend with three wonderful and creative ladies.  We talked art, babies, teens, art, jewelry, sales, kids, wine.....................lol.  It was wonderful.

 

Lots of great people came who really appreciate art, so that was nice too.  Sue, our hostess, is the art teacher at Souderton High School, and so many of her former students came by. It was really heartwarming to see how much she cared for these guys, and the relationships she formed with them.  Truely the sign of a wonderful teacher!!!!

 

Sue and her husband Duke were so welcoming, and kind and helpful, I felt like part of the family by the end of the weekend, and really didn't want to leave. 

 

I didn't take many photo's, I think I was too busy chatting or drooling over the art!

 

The pics below were taken the day I set up.  So it wasn't all filled up with art yet, but you get a nice idea of the lovely barn studio space we got to enjoy all weekend.

I did get to snap some pics during the show as well.   Here is MaryAnn (Sardine Clothing Co.) talking to a lovely woman, who had the sweetest dog, Izzy.

We even had Burning Bridget Cleary playing for a bit on friday night!

All the kids (and grown ups too) Loved Sue's re-headed action figures!

 

 

Aiden loved hanging out in the loft up top.  He was making braided bracelets to sell.  He made his first $7!!!!  I am so proud of him!

So, the best part of the weekend was coming home with some great new art.  I got a bunch of things from Mary Ann (you can find out more about her recycled clothes here), but they are all over the place already.  Julia got a skirt, I got two pairs of her fingerless gloves (comfy warm, pretty, heavenly)  similar to these, but black (they are cashmere)

And Justin found a hat he had to have. He even got to wear it out on saturday night, and it was FREEZING.  He gives them two thumbs up.  (they are wool, but she lines them with cotton so they don't itch!!!)

 

I got these gorgeous bunny painting's from Sue (you can find her art work here).  I am seeing a pattern of bunnies and moons in the art I am choosing.  Anyhow, I had to have these two!!!

 

Then, I picked some little mosters from Mary Ann (you can find her art work here).  Let me tell you, these little guys will steal your heart.  I spent all weekend just looking at these guys, and was always finding some new little detail she added.  You can really see the heart she puts into each and every guy and gal.  I decided that I need to collect at least three of them, one that represents each of my kids.  I started with picking my Julia this weeekend.  Here is the collection of guys I got from MaryLynne.

I picked up the green guy in the cup for my mom for christmas...shhhhhhhhhh (watch, this will be the one time she reads my blog;)

 

I had to have the little dog on the block and the one eyed guy for my studio.  I just fell in love with his big glass eye!

OK, here is my Julia Monster.  Now, if you know my Julia, she is super duper sweet.  She is mega creative, and didn't talk until she was 3.  (She was taking everything in.)  She is very visual, and often in her own world in the clouds somewhere.  I loved this little girl moster for her, because she has eyes all over her, she is surely sweet, and......................
 

 
her head is empty.  Its cute.  Please, I am not being a mean mom (don't judge).  Even Julia loved the idea, and she told me its because her head explodes with all her ideas!  See what I mean, its perfect for her, my dreamer!

Mary Lynne is going to make me a little critter to hang on the edge of my Julia Monsters head too.  Since she adores her stuffed animals, and they are her "friends".  No lie, she loves them like they are real.  I thought it would be adorable to have one "in her head". 

I am thinking a King Monster of some sort for Aiden.  He is definitely a born leader, and king in his own mind anyhow!!!  And Mary Lynne always has plenty of sweet adorable monsters that could represent Collin.  I just love her work.

So that is it.  I had a great time and feel truely blessed to have been included.  Thanks to all of you who stopped by.  It was so nice to meet so many creative folks (and lots of animal lovers too!!) 

Now back to work!

Applhead Open Studio

I am so excited for this show.  Applehead Studio Show.  It's close, and informal......just my kind of show. I love the studio environment where you can mingle and talk art.  Plus, I get to the honor of doing this show with three, local, fellow women artists, whose work I greatly admire.

We will also be graced by the company of Mary Ann from Sardine Clothing Company.  She recycles clothing and make awesome new skirts- and I see she is going to have lots and lots of really cool warm things for us to buy this weekend.  Can you believe she free forms all these appliques?

Then there is me.  You know where to find me.  Here are a few new things I will have at the show.  Please forgive the un-edited photo's.  NO time, no time, never enough time!  But I made some Halloween Jewelry, which I really never do. I don't do seasonal, but, I picked things that I liked, and thought I could really use, or you could really wear all year long if you like them!  Sugar Skulls and Spider Webs and Bats!!!  Oh my!

 

 

I made a few bats in this style, but don't have pics of the new ones.  They use Marsha Neals ceramic bats, and have swirls to mimic the motion the bats fly in!  I just love them on.  They are comfy and hang just right.
