Art Bead Earring Swap

Thanks so much to Diana Ptaszynski of Suburban Girl Studio LLC for organizing this great swap!  I loved the idea of just swapping jewerly- especially with art beads.  I mean, even if we all make our own, you know we drool over everyone elses designs too!

I think earrings are both fun and challenging.  I am in a place in my jewelry making where I want all my work to be cohesive, and honestly represent my style.  When you make earrings, you don't have much room to make a statement.  They are an artform all their own!!!!!  So it can be challenging, but its always fun to make mini- art too!  (if you have seen how chunky and large my necklaces are, you will see why I call earrings mini-art!)

I got paired up with Lisa Petrillo of Lucid Moon Studio!  I was really excited, since I have "met" her through a couple of other hops.  I love her work, she really has an eye for design.  Her blog is full of life, and I just know she would be so much fun to hang out with in person.  Lisa is in the process of moving this week, I don't know how she does it all!!!!

Here is the amazing package I got from her.
We emailed each other prior to creating our earrings for each other, and I told her that I don't really wear earrings, but was excited to get a pair as a gift for my mom.  My mom is a BIG fan of earrings, and certainly not loyal to mine!  LOL!  I thought she'd like a pair from a new artist for a change.  The box is perfect and ready to gift!  I just love getting a nicely decorated package!

Then I opened it to find these adorable and versitile earrings!  Love them, and so will my mom.
But thats not all, she also included these, in case I wanted to make a matching pendant.
Isn't that so thoughtful????

So, I am looking at these beads, going, "these look so familiar".  So I emailed Lisa and it turns out they are made by Love My Art Jewelry's own LeAnn of Summer Studios!!!  Small world!!

If you want to check out what everyone else got, here are the links!  There are some great artists in this bunch.  I can't wait to have an excuse to browes their blogs all morning!!!

Happy Hopping!

Lorelei's Shadow Box Challenge Blog Hop Reveal Day

Well, thats a mouthfull!  Lorelei had a great giveaway awhile ago, and picked 23 lucky people to create something with a C-koop Shadow box that she sent us.  Then, we'd have a blog hop to see what everyone made.  Today is that day!  Aren't those boxes just great?  Her enamel work, though the colors are bright, is very organic, and I just love it.

I got a little orance square box with one hole at the top.  Now, I don't do much pendant style stuff, and I was really hoping to NOT get orange....my brain just doesn't design in bright colors.  But the box and the enamel is so awesome, that I fell in love with my little box anyway.  Turns out, I can do bright, and still keep it rustic too.  I think that is what I am so drawn to in these sort of challenges, is that, it makes me go outside of my comfort zone, and problem solve.  I get to take something that baffles me, and figure out how to make it mine.

This is what I figured...............
I played with beads for a month, at one time, this necklace was so chunky and gigantic, it was just crazy!  Its funny it ended up be so simple!  I used some of my new Loopty Loops in a verdigris patina as the center.  In the box, it had to be something round, to make that box less sharp, so a turquoise donut with some brownish / orange coloring went into it.  Then I found that GREAT orange crackle agate bead from my bead soup mix LAST time around.  I just loved it, and when I got it, I was afraid I'd never get to use it because its so bright for me.  YAY!  It found a home!

It hangs nice, it jingles when I move around...............I just love it.
Now hop on over to the other blogs to see what they made with them.  I know I am, just as soon as I have some coffee!

Boho Balance~ My Artisan Clay Design Team Piece

Wow!  These months seem to fly by.  Its that time again, to reveal what I made with my Artisan Clay component of the month.  I forgot to take a picture of it before I made it into something, but here is a similar component Kristie has for sale on etsy.  (click on the photo to check it out on etsy)
Except mine was a single connector on top- thinner crescent with no loop for a dangle, and mine was greenish colored.  (see below)

So I thought I'd try to do something asymmetrical with it.  But the design kept getting crazy and elaborate, and it really just cried to be symmetrical.  So, symmetrical it is.
Here it is folks..........I hope you like it!
Its for sale here on etsy

I used a cool patina piece of copper to make a bail for a dangle, found stones to match it, and then linked some chain with matching stones.

I can't wait to see what everyone else made!

Happy hopping~~~~ click here to go to Artisan Clay's blog and see what everyone else made.

Getting Inspired

You may have been wondering where I've been.  Well, I have been getting inspired.  We had our annual family trip to LBI NJ.  I love the beach.  Everything about it inspires me, and I had ample time to find little treasures that will continue to inspire me in the months to come.

I found some great shells, and sea glass, and REALLY cool beach stones.  I love textures, and looking at this beach loot is inspiration galore!
I am all ready to get into the studio to prep for the LBI Sea Glass festival, Chowderfest Weekend.  Its a great time.  For details, check out my website.

I was not the only one who was artistically inspired at the shore.  Here are some drawings and projects my kids did.  I am so very proud of them and their ability to express themselves through art!

These three were done by Aiden 9yrs old

The colorful one is by Julia 7yrs old
And these were done by all three kids, but Collin 4yrs old came up with the idea!

Here are some pics of the kids getting braver and braver each year in the water.  They swam and boogie boarded until we called them out to go home each day.  I think Julia may be a surfer when she grows up!

They all handled crab pinches and wipes outs without much fuss at all.  Even my littlest bub had TWO HUGE wipe outs, and went back for more!  I just love those guys!

us at the beach after dinner....we were there every chance we got

Theres Jules...she even made a pen pal friend this year

Bub couldn't hang all day, but he tried

It was a refreshing time, with friends and family, and I am already looking forward to next year.

Now I can't wait to get into the studio and make some stuff with my new finds.

What inspired you this week?
